Anti-Blackness and Racism in Animal Welfare with Christine Davis of SPCA Serving Erie County
In this session, Christine will take a deep dive into the relationship between animals and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) people with a particular view on the relationships with African Americans. She will present a sharp contrast on the history of that relationship, how it ties into Humane Education, BSL (Breed Specific Legislation), and our perception of pit bulls. Understanding the history of this relationship and animal welfare correlates to the lack of diversity we see today.
