After two years of meeting virtually, we can't wait to see everyone in person again in April 2023! Join us for APHE’s annual national conference, featuring speakers from around the world. This year’s conference will provide participants with professional networking opportunities and presentations that will motivate and inspire our work in this important field. This is the national conference for humane educators!

Who typically attends the APHE National Humane Education Conference? 

Attendees from all over the world! Our 200+ registrants hail from both sides of the hemisphere.

Attendees include humane educators from a variety of backgrounds who promote humane attitudes toward people, animals, and the environment.  This includes, but is not limited to, anyone who teaches animal welfare, animal rights, animal behavior, environmental education and literacy, social justice, character education, cultural studies, and any combination of the above.

The conference allows staff and volunteers of animal shelters, animal care and control agencies, zoos, museums, park districts, schools, colleges, universities, and other local, regional, and national entities to learn and share together.

2023 Conference Location

APHE's 2023 Conference will be taking place at the Lumber Exchange Event Center in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, MN.

The conference mixer will also take place at the Lumber Exchange in the evening on April 19.

Our APHE networking dinner is set for April 20 at the "fun and funky" Hell's Kitchen, also in downtown Minneapolis.

2023 Conference Hotel Information

APHE encourages 2023 conference attendees to reserve rooms at our official conference hotel, AC Hotel by Marriott Minneapolis Downtown. APHE's contracted discounted single rate of $139.00 will be available through Monday, March 30, 2023, or when rooms have sold out. 

How to reserve your room with the APHE discounted rate:

Option 1 - Reserve your room online using APHE's reservation link. (Please note that using this link will auto-populate a reservation date of April 15-23. Be sure to adjust the dates according to when you'll be arriving and leaving!)

Option 2 - Call the AC Hotel at +1 612-338-0700 and let them know you're attending the APHE National Conference.

Curious about breakfast? The AC Hotel offers a breakfast buffet for $15.95/per person.  (Please note: a light breakfast will be provided free of charge at the conference venue.  It will begin Thursday and Friday at 7:30am.)

Transportation from the airport to the hotel:

Conference attendees can easily travel from the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport to the AC Hotel via Metro Transit light rail. Take the Blue Line!
