"Humane Education and Theories
of Learning and Development"

The Humane Society of the United States just opened for registration the Certified Humane Education Specialist (CHES) course, “Humane Education and Theories of Learning and Development” (formerly Standards for Success in Humane Education) in our new multimedia platform, Digital Chalk. This course is designed to equip both formal and informal education practitioners with an understanding and appreciation of the fundamental theories of learning and how they relate to the components of humane and prosocial education and moral development. The course begins on October 6 and runs eight weeks. It is an asynchronous course, meaning that each week you log in at your own pace to complete course materials. The course is $200, and The HSUS offers a 10% discount to APHE members (see Members' Area - Member Discounts at aphe.org for details).

The prerequisite for this course is “History of Humane Education,” which covers the rich roots of teaching a humane ethic. This self-paced option is $50 and can be started at any time. If you took this course in the old system, please email hsa@humanesociety.org after you have created a Digital Chalk user account.

For more info and to register for either course in Digital Chalk, please visit http://hsus.digitalchalk.com (New students will need to create an account, providing an email address and password.)
