Marsh Myers
Marsh Myers is the Director of Community Outreach for the Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA) in Tucson, the state’s second-largest animal welfare organization. Marsh and his staff of educators reach approximately 19,000 people all over southern Arizona with programs ranging from classroom presentations to youth internships to summer camps. Marsh is also one of the founding members of the Animal Cruelty Taskforce of Southern Arizona (ACT), a law enforcement coalition dedicated to protecting animals from violence and neglect. He served as the ACT co-chair from 2000-2001 and currently holds the post of Public Information Officer. In 2004, Marsh was elected to the Board of Directors for the Association of Professional Humane Educators. Marsh’s other passion is child welfare. He is a licensed therapeutic foster care provider, a surrogate parent, an adoptive parent and a volunteer with the Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections. Marsh and his staff also became the first humane educators in Arizona to be state certified in providing psychoeducational services to special needs children in the child protection and behavioral health care systems. Marsh is owned and cared for by three sons and two friendly cats named Liberty and Justice.
