Carol Shiveley
Humane educator since 1989 for Oregon Humane Society. Started as a WHEEA member, then served as a board member. On the founding board for APHE, in 1999 held in Portland, OR. I have served on the APHE board since then. I also was APHE president 2 terms, and secretary 1 term. I helped on the APHE camp and service learning CD projects. Hosted the APHE Conference held March 2003 in Portland. Previously: I have been Delta Board Member, Pet Partner Evaluator and Pet Therapy Volunteer Coordinator. I served on Project Pooch and Portland Community College Vet Tech boards for 11 years each. As humane educator at OHS, our programs include: schools presentations, tours, 5 after school clubs, 9 day camps, Girl Scout Spring Break Pet Days, annual (our 59th ) “Be Kind to Animals” Poster/Photo-Story Event with average of 5,000 entries, birthday parties, and various children’s pet events. Personal: Married to Jim, 2 grown children--Jill an RN (lives in Denver with grandson Chance 17) and Matt an anesthesiologist (lives in Washington with his wife Sherrod & my two grandsons Tommy 5 & Johnny 4. My pet family includes: Bessie and Ginger (Education Pet Partner dogs), Julius and Baby (cats).
