Number of Years I've Worked in Animal Welfare
4 years
Education
Bachelor’s Degree: double major in Art History & Hutchins School of Liberal Studies at CA State Multiple Subject CLAD emphasis. Teaching Credential Graduate course work completed in Literacy and Language Arts Education.
I Share My Home With:
My husband, Nathan, of 14 years, 3 dogs (all Shepherd mixed breeds), 2 adopted from the Humane Society where I work and 1 from a local rescue agency. Their names are: Cooper, Winter and Midnight. Cooper and Winter are both Canine Good Citizens and volunteer at a local senior center and do reading therapy with a 2nd grade class at a local elementary school. Midnight, not being as quite interested in people enjoys taking agility classes with Beth. And 1 cat, Peyo, rescued from a local French Restaurant.
I Chose to Work in Humane Education Because:
I love working on behalf of our animal companions, both domestic and wild, and the environment. I love working with the public doing outreach throughout the community working with children, teens, families, and teachers. Children and teens are so open to learning, helping, and ask great questions. I love working with all the great staff at my Humane Society and with other animal rescues in my community. I feel fortunate to have my life made that much fuller by being a part of all the animals lives that I get to meet and help each day. Being a Humane Educator I am able to use my teacher’s training and combine my education and personal passion of animal welfare. I work with the community, meeting families, teachers and feel like I can make the difference in the care and quality of life of companion animals and wildlife each day I reach out to a child, teen, parent and teacher. |
